Process

Custom Portraits is a unique custom Pop Art service where you have control over the style, colours, and composition. We give you the opportunity to select the options that best suit your own artistic tastes and preferences for interior decoration.

Placing an order 
  1. Firstly, you decide the Pop Art style and canvas size you would like for your Custom Portrait(s).
  2. Place your order online on our Prices page.
  3. We will contact you requesting your photo and to discuss any preferences you have for your Pop Art portrait (e.g. colours).
  4. You send (by e-mail or post) a suitable photo that you would like Pepito to work from. See our Tips For Taking Photos.

Artwork 
  1. Once the photo and payment is approved, the artist will begin the black and white drawing of your comic portrait.
  2. When the drawing is complete, a variety of crops/compositions (based on the size/format you ordered) are e-mailed to you in PDF format. This is an industry standard electronic document that you can view on your computer.

  1. You reply back stating your favourite composition, which we will continue to work with for the colour stages.
  2. Digital colouring begins, taking into account any preferences you may have noted. Another PDF proof is e-mailed to you, this time giving you a choice of colour variations. For black and white orders, this stage will be skipped.

  1. You then reply back stating which visual you would like to be the final artwork.

Printing & Finishing 
  1. Your portrait is printed onto superior quality 500gsm woven canvas, using advanced dye sublimation print technology.
  2. The print is stretched over 4.5 cm deep pine stretcher frames, trimmed, heated (to seal the edges), and wedges applied.

Packaging & Delivery 
  1. Once complete, smaller canvas prints are sent by Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded Delivery in Jiffy bags. Larger prints are packed in bubble wrap and corrugated card and despatched by City Link for the next working day. Wall fittings are included.
  2. If you supplied a printed photo, it will be returned with your portrait.
  3. You hang the canvas on the wall, proud of your cool, iconic Custom Portrait!

The whole process takes around 2-3 weeks. Please remember it also depends on how quickly you respond to the composition and colour visuals we send you. Orders for larger sized canvas prints may take longer.

We will always keep close communication with you through phone, text, or e-mail to keep you up to date on the important stages of the Pop Art portrait commission.
